A good fit makes all the difference. Here's how to apply NasalFlow strips, where to place them and how to remove them gently.

A quick 40-second walkthrough, from washing your nose to pressing the strip into place.

Applying a strip in four steps

It takes about thirty seconds. Apply your strip just before bed, or before you start exercising.

  1. Woman drying her nose with a towel before applying a nasal strip

    Clean and dry your nose

Wash and dry your nose to remove any oil, moisturiser or make-up, so the strip sticks securely all night.

  2. Woman peeling the backing off a NasalFlow nasal strip

    Peel and place

Peel off the backing without touching the adhesive. Hold the strip by its edges and place it across the bridge of your nose, just above the flare of your nostrils.

  3. Woman pressing a nasal strip onto the bridge of her nose

    Press and smooth

Press both ends down firmly and run your finger along the strip so it makes full contact.

  4. Woman rinsing her face with warm water to remove a nasal strip gently

    Remove gently

In the morning, wet your nose with warm water while washing or showering, then slowly lift both ends. Each strip is single use.

Finding the right placement

Place the strip across the bridge of your nose with the ends resting just above the flare of your nostrils. This is where the flexible bands can lift the sides of your nose most effectively.

  • Too high and the strip sits on the bony part of your nose, where it can't open your nasal passages.
  • Too low and it can press on your nostrils rather than lifting them.
  • Just right and you should feel the sides of your nose gently lift as soon as it's on.

NasalFlow strips come in one large size, 66mm x 19mm, which fits most adult noses.

Removing a strip without hurting your skin

The easiest way is to remove it while washing your face or in the shower. Warm water loosens the adhesive, so you can slowly peel the strip off from each end. Avoid pulling it off quickly while it is dry.

Each strip is single use. Once removed, the adhesive won't stick as well and the strip won't work as effectively, so use a fresh one each time.

Tips for the best results

  • Start with clean, dry skin. Oil, moisturiser and make-up stop the adhesive sticking properly.
  • During exercise, apply the strip before you start, as sweat can stop it sticking.
  • Wear time: up to 12 hours in any 24-hour period, which is plenty for a full night's sleep.
  • Every night: use a fresh strip each night and give your skin a break if you notice any redness or irritation.

Before you use them

  • Do not use if you are allergic to latex.
  • Do not apply over broken, sunburnt, irritated or sore skin.
  • Stop using them if you notice a rash or irritation.
  • Suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over. Keep out of reach of children.
  • Nasal strips do not treat sleep apnoea. If you or your partner notice pauses in your breathing at night, speak to your GP.
